Nagpur: 18 people tested positive for Covid-19 at IIT Madras campus, taking the total cases to 30 in the last two days as per the officials on Friday.
Tamil Nadu reported 39 new cases of Covid-19 and is currently seeing an upward trend in the daily Covid-19 cases. Zero fatalities were recorded, as per the medical bulletin.
The government directed the health department to step up testing of samples to around 25,000 a day from the present 18,000 cases. Health secretary J Radhakrishnan visited the IIT-Madras campus on Thursday.
IIT Madras students are being tested for any more infections. The Health Secretary of Tamil Nadu had stated yesterday that contact tracing is being done. With this, about 1500 samples are expected to be tested between today and tomorrow.
