Suella Braverman, an India-origin barrister, was appointed as the UK‘s new Home Secretary, replacing Priti Patel.
The new Prime Minister of the United kingdom Liz Truss appointed Suella Braverman as Home Secretary.
Suella Braverman was elected as Conservative MP for Fareham, South-east England in 2015. She was previously Attorney general between 2020-2022. She was Parliamentary under Secretary of state at the Department for exiting the European Union from January-November 2018.
Suella was among the first contendres to throw her hat in the ring to replace Boris Johnson as Tory leader and after that Prime Minister was forced to resign amid multiple scandals.
According to reports, Suella will be assigned on projects such as Government‘s plan to send some asylum seekers to Rwanda, which has faced legal challenges.
Suella is a prominent member of the pro-Brexit wing of the Conservatives who wants a clear break from Europe, including taking the UK out of the European Court of Human Rights.
