Nagpur: Colleges in Pune city are all set to reopen from Monday after the Pune Municipal Corporation issued a notification based on deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s announcement. Announcement was made regarding further relaxations for the district at the Covied-19 review meeting.

However, the state government hasn’t made a state-wide announcement on re-opening of colleges as of now.

Pune municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar’s order after the Covid-19 review meeting also allowed the private offices in the district to operate at full capacity and also extended the timings for the restaurants, bars, cafes and food courts till 11pm. Coaching classes too can function with 50 per cent capacity.

According to the notification, the order for restaurants, food courts and bars comes into effect from Friday. Pawar said that students who have received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine and fully vaccinated staff members (teaching and non-teaching) can start attending college from Monday itself. He added that all the institutions have to follow strict Covid-19 protocol.

In Maharashtra, Pune district has registered the second highest vaccination numbers, as per the deputy chief minister. “District’s positivity rate has dipped to 3.01 per cent with PMC registering 2.5 per cent, PCMC at 2.3 per cent and Pune rural at 3.6 per cent, so we have decided to reopen colleges with full precautions,” Pawar added.
