Nagpur: Amid rising cases of Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, a 10-day ‘Corona curfew’ was imposed in five places in Srinagar on Monday.

Srinagar deputy commissioner Mohammed Aijaz Asad said that the curfew has put restrictions on movement of people in the five areas, except for permissible activities. He added that the curfew has been imposed at Lal Bazar, Hyderpora, Chanapora and two different pockets of Bemina due to a surge in cases. “All shopping complexes, bazaars, saloons, barber shops, and restaurants will remain closed as will all educational institutions,” the deputy commissioner said.

Asad said there has been a steep rise in COvid-19 positive cases in the district since the past 15 to 17 days and almost 63 per cent of the daily cases have been detected from particular areas. Though the government has identified these belts as containment zones, it has not helped in reducing the numbers, as per the order.
