Nagpur: Maharashtra deputy chief minister on Thursday lost his cool in the assembly and asked the leaders in the house to wear the mask properly.

Pawar further said the government doesn’t want to impose lockdown again but people need to take things seriously as the omicron cases are rising in the state. In another statement, Pawar asked the minister and the leaders to be careful with what they tell the media regarding the new variant.

“We need to take things seriously. We don’t want a lockdown again. We request everyone in the House also to please wear a mask. I request opposition leaders to speak responsibly on this issue,” Pawar said. Deputy chief minister also hinted that senior officials are mulling for a nationwide night lockdown due to rising Omicron cases in the country.

Due to a surge in Omicron cases, Mumbai has imposed section 144 in the city till December 31 and has banned large gatherings for new years eve. Apart from this, Nagpur guardian minister Nitin Raut also hinted that large gatherings could be banned.

A few weeks after the Supreme court quashed down two ordinances that permitted 27 per cent reservation to the other backward class candidates in urban and rural local bodies, the Maharashtra government tabled both the ordinances in the assembly on the very first day of the session. Before they could be made into laws, a discussion on the ordinances is expected to take place in both the houses—assembly and council.
