Nagpur: Almost 2,000 passengers in a Mumbai-Goa cruise ship were not allowed to disembark after a crew member tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. All the passengers and the crew are now getting tested for Covid-19.

Health minister Vishwajit Rane on Sunday confirmed that the cruise, carrying 2,000 passengers, was not allowed to dock at Goa port. Rane added that the operators of the cruise ship have been asked to conduct Covid-19 tests on all the passengers present through Vasco-based Salgaonkar Medical Research Centre (SMRC) Hospital.

The cruise, Cordelia Cruises’ Empress, had come from Mumbai. The health officials said that only one crew member tested positive via antigen test while the ship was still not on its way to Goa with 2,017 passengers aboard.

As per a report, a Mormugao port trust (MPT) official said, “We have allowed the ship to berth, but everyone will be tested before they disembark. All the passengers are double vaccinated. The ship doctor has tested a crew member who had a fever for a day. The vessel was kept outside the port limits while the authorities were informed.”
