Nagpur: Bread, biscuits, and rotis are all likely to see price increases. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) occasionally sells wheat under the OMSS (open market sale scheme) to improve the supply of foodgrains, primarily wheat.

According to data reported by state civil supplies departments to the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the all-India average retail price of wheat flour was Rs 32.78 per kg on Saturday, 9.15 percent higher than the price (30.03 per kg) a year ago.

In terms of four metro cities, Mumbai had the highest average retail price of wheat flour at Rs 49 per kg, followed by Chennai (Rs 34 per kg), Kolkata (Rs 29 per kg), and Delhi (Rs 29 per kg) (Rs 27 per kg).

In the fiscal year 2021-22, the wheat processing industry obtained seven million tonnes of the foodgrain from the government. If the government does not declare the continuation of the OMSS policy, industry will be forced to buy 100 percent wheat on the open market this year.

Yes, it’s terrible; inflation in March increased primarily due to an increase in food prices. The monthly rate of inflation was 7.68 percent, up from 5.85 percent in February.

Food inflation increased to 7.68 percent in March, up from 5.85 percent the previous month. The increase in the food basket was caused by a sharp increase in oil and fat prices, which increased 18.79 percent year on year in March.
