Relief for common man in coming months: Puri breaks silence on fuel prices

Nagpur: Union minister for Petroleum and Natural gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said that the government is very sensitive to the issue of the rise of fuel prices in the country.

The union minister asserted that people will get relief in the coming months from the scathing fuel prices.

Puri while addressing a press conference added that international oil prices are slowly coming down and stabilising.

“The central government is very sensitive to this issue…I see that in the coming months relief will come,” he told the media.

Puri also defended the government on the rise of the fuel prices in India and said that the central government imposes an excise duty of Rs 32 per litre and the revenue generated from this amount is spent on various welfare schemes which benefit the citizens of the country.

“The central government is also very sensitive to other responsibilities that we have…the government provided free rations to 80 crore people, free vaccines, and all other facilities. So it’s a part of that picture,” he added.
