Nagpur: Leader of Opposition and former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday criticised guardian minister Nitin Raut for his decision on imposing the restrictions and said that there are no restrictions needed as such for the district.

Fadnavis said that curbs should be imposed based on the number of cases and availability of beds at places and not at any place.

He also said that weekend curfews don’t solve any kind of purpose and hence shouldn’t be imposed.

The LoP further added that the economy was slowly recovering and people have just started earning again and the news curbs would bring unrest amongst the people.

Minister of disaster management, relief & rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar, on Tuesday also said that no decision has been taken regarding the re-imposition of curbs in the district as of now.

“No decision has been made, nor any discussion has taken place on a cabinet-level regarding the lockdown,” Wadettiwar said.

He added that there are no plans as of now to enforce tougher curbs in Maharashtra now.

“Number of cases is increasing in Mumbai and Pune, in Nagpur cases have just started to rise.”

State health minister Rajesh Tope also said that the guardian minister may have made the statement but there is no proposal as such now to increase the restrictions in the state at the moment.
