Nagpur: As the whole country is bracing up for the third wave of Covid-19, a ‘Covid-19 preparedness’ conclave was held at Hotel Centre Point on Monday.
The conclave was organised by Prabhavati Ojha Smruti Seva Sanstha (POSSS), Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) and Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA). The conclave was chaired by Guardian minister Dr Nitin Raut, Nagpur district Collector Vimala R, NMC Commissioner Radhakrishnan B and Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The administrative officers shared their experiences from the first and second wave of Covid-19 and said that the only way to avoid the possible third wave is by following the Covid-19 protocols religiously. They assured that they are well prepared and well equipped if at all the third wave strikes the district.
Raut while assuring the traders, industrialists, taxpayers and citizens said that any future decision on lockdown or restrictions will be taken only after consultation with the stakeholders. He insisted that vaccination should be 100 per cent and any city corporation achieving 100 this should be offered Rs 10 lakh extra funds.
Nitin Raut during the first wave had said that a Jumbo 1000-bed hospital will be opened to tackle the shortage of beds in the city. However, the jumbo Covid-19 hospital wasn’t ready in the first wave and the idea was dropped during the second wave of Covid-19.
Earlier, Raut, after holding a meeting with the officials, said that restrictions in the city will be imposed again as the city had recorded Covid-19 cases in double digits. However, the decision was not implemented as there was no rise in the cases. The Opposition called it a ‘false alarm.’
