Nagpur: Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and said that the AAP managed to open new liquor shops but not ration shops.
Lekhi participated in Delhi BJP’s signature campaign against the new excise policy of the Kejriwal led AAP government and said that allowing the private parties to open up liquor shops won’t add up to the revenue of the city government.
The union minister said, “The Kejriwal government has not opened any new ration shops or issued fresh ration cards but is opening liquor stores all over the city. It will have a harmful effect as families will be broken with people falling prey to alcoholism”
BJP Delhi president Adesh Gupta said that the party workers have been protesting against the current government’s excise policy for weeks and will not rest until and unless it gets repealed. Gupta in a statement said, “The people of Delhi are unhappy with this policy that aims to open up 850 liquor shops across the city on the pretext of equal distribution.” He further questioned the AAP government that why it is not working for equal distribution of water, improving health and education and cleaning the Yamuna river.
BJP’s Mahil Morcha aims to collect 15 lakh signatures in the coming eight to 10 days to repeal the new policy. The policy was implemented in November 2021.
