Nagpur: Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta Fadnavis on Friday claimed that three per cent of the divorces in Mumbai is caused by the city’s traffic.

“Due to traffic, people are unable to give time to their families and 3% divorces in Mumbai are happening due to it,” she said.

While speaking to the reporters, she said the condition of the roads and traffic of the city cause divorces. In no time, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi took a dig at her statement and called it to be the ‘Best (il) logic of the day.’ Netizens too, started ridiculing the former chief minister’s wife on social media.

Fadnavis also added that she herself has been personally troubled by the potholes on the roads and stuck in traffic. She further said, “Forget that I am the wife of Devendra Fadnavis. I am talking to you as a woman. I have also experienced traffic on the roads and the potholes and how they trouble us.”

Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar criticised Fadnavis’ claim and said that her allegation is astonishing that the traffic leads to divorce. “Amrita Fadnavis is the wife of our former chief minister. Her allegation is astonishing that traffic leads to divorce. There can be many reasons for divorce but this is the first time I have heard this,” Pednekar said.
