Russian food store chain shuts down Dutch operations

Spread the love

Russian fresh food supermarket chain VkusVill (Vkus) is closing its four stores in the Netherlands, because of the impact of the war in Ukraine. ‘As a Dutch limited company with a Russian investor, our existence is threatened in the longer term,’ the company said in a website statement. ‘This world disaster knows only losers, on all sides, on all fronts and has also proved fatal to our shop.’ VkusVill had three branches in Amsterdam and a shop specializing in dairy products in Bus sum.

The chain opened its first shop in the Netherlands in June 2020. It has 1,300 shops in Russia spread across several dozen cities.
