Indians believe in ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbbakam’, which means the whole world is a one big family. However, The Free Media recently witnessed a true example of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbbakam”.

The Netherlands’ Overseas Friends of BJP has started honouring the deserving heroes.
Each year it recognises the contribution of an individual who has helped build Indo-Dutch friendship, towards India or the Indian community.

This time the community welcomed the contribution of Dutch Coach Sjoerd Marijne.
Sjoerd Marijne was in charge of the Indian Women’s Hockey team and helped turn the fortunes of the team around. Inspired by his immense perseverance, he brought the entire team to victory.

Sjoerd was accorded special honours and gifts recently by the ambassador of India to the Netherlands, HE Pradeep Kumar Rawat. Shiv Mohan Singh, incharge of Press, Information and Culture was also present during the ceremony.

As this is the diamond jubilee year of India-Netherlands diplomatic relations, the Ambassador recalled the mutual understanding between the two countries in his speech.

India and the Netherlands have a relationship that is more than four hundred years old. The ambassador appreciated the contribution of every Indian and Dutch citizen who has helped to inspire and strengthen this friendship.
