Nagpur: The Supreme Court granted relief to the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs as it gave them time till July 12 to file responses to the disqualification notices issued to them by deputy speaker Narahari Zirwal.

The top court also turned down a plea by the Maharashtra government against holding a floor test in the meantime. However, according to several sources, demand for a floor test of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government can also be made before July 11.

On Monday, cabinet minister Aditya Thackeray claimed that there were 15 to 20 rebel MLAs who are currently in touch with the Sena and would be coming back to base soon. He also said that other rebels have sold themselves for lakhs and crores when chief minister Uddhav Thackeray was in the hospital.

Junior Thackeray also said, “Many people told us that Congress and NCP will betray us but our people betrayed us. Many MLAs who were watchmen, rickshaw drivers, and paan shopkeepers—we made them ministers.”

“They (rebel MLAs) went to Guwahati where there’s a flood situation and many people are without shelter and food. They (rebel MLAs) are enjoying themselves there… They are taking private choppers. Shame on them,” he added.
