Nagpur: Maharashtra Health minister Rajesh Tope on Friday said that no lockdown will be imposed in the state in the coming days.

While addressing the reporters, Tope said “there is no possibility of fresh lockdown in the near future.

I appeal to the people to avoid crowding while celebrating the Ganesh festival.”

He added that the government has been issuing various guidelines and should be followed all the time.

This development comes after Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that people are letting their guard down against Covid-19 in the rural areas.

He further urged the people to follow the norms so that the government is not in a position to shut everything in the event of a third wave of the pandemic.

“Unfortunately, in rural areas, some people are becoming lax.

They are not scared of coronavirus. They don’t use masks, don’t follow physical distance, and they have assumed that Covid-19 pandemic is over,” Pawar said.

Maharashtra on Friday reported 4,313 Covid-19 cases and 92 deaths, taking the total active cases in the state to 50,466.

The recovery rate stands at 97.04 per cent and fatality rate at 2.12 per cent.
