The BMC also capped the height of Goddess Durga idols to four feet for community mandals and two feet for household ones. The civic body even urged the citizens to follow Covid-19 protocols and keep the celebrations low-key to avoid another wave of virus.

An official claimed that the BMC has urged the public to keep the celebrations low-key and also asked the public mandals to take permission from the local body authority for online darshan and installation of Durga idols.

“Heights of the idols for mandals should not be more than four feet and two feet for households’ ones,” the civic chief said. He added that ‘no’ garba festivals will be allowed during the festival time.

He also urged that immersion of household idols should be done at home itself and if not possible, one can go to the nearest immersion point set up by the civic body at various places in the city.

At the time of Aarti, not more than 10 people should be allowed to be gathered and should be following the issued guidelines by the BMC.
