Clashes reported in Jodhpur, internet suspended

Nagpur: On the occasion of Eid and Akshay Tritiya, clashes erupted between two communities in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Tuesday. The violence was following a dispute involving flags in the Jalori gate ahead of the festivals on Monday night.

As per reports, stone pelting and more violence was reported from five areas on Tuesday. Internet services have been suspended in the city to stop people from spreading rumours and heavy security arrangements are in place to maintain law and order in the city.

According to Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, all the internet services have been suspended. “All 2G/3G/4G/ Data (mobile internet), bulk SMS/MMS/Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media services through internet service providers (except voice calls, broadband internet, leased lines have been temporarily suspended till further orders in the entire Jodhpur district,” the issued order read.

Three people have been detained in connection with the violence erupted. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony.
